A few months ago, yes months, not weeks or days, my sister asked me to get a nice photo of the two girls for some stone engraving voucher she received for her birthday...back in June. I naively thought that an amazing picture of both girls would just magically land on my roll - so to speak - I actually shoot digital and not film, but you know.
I don't have a problem getting a nice photo of either of the girls individually, in fact I suffer from the opposite, a problem picking my favourites. But the weeks turned to months and she kept politely asking, to which I had to disappoint. About this time I looked through my instagram feed and realised that pictures with both children were pretty scarce. So then I started trying. Whenever I saw the girls doing something adorable, I would race and grab my camera and return to... someone crying, thumping or hair wrenching. There were also times that I tried to put them in nice places in attempt to get a more posed photo. More epic fails. Between all these photos, there are salvagable pictures but there is nothing very great, let alone remarkable.
I present to you, some of the outtakes.
And thats a wrap. Imogen sent me a message today asking for a high resolution photo of Elspeth that she liked, and suggesting just to get two stones with individual shots. I might concede defeat. Then no doubt, the pictures of both of them will appear thick and fast.
In the meantime. Here are the finalists:
